NORTH EDMONTON SENIORS ASSOCIATION JOB POSTING

ASSISTANT SENIORS PROGRAM COORDINATOR JOB DESCRIPTION

Functions/Duties:

In collaboration with the Association Program, Social and CARE committees and under the direction of professional staff:

·        Assist with the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of all CARE programs and support services of the Association including: Connections social program for the frail isolated elderly, Volunteer visitors and phoners, New member Tours, Assistance with Forms, Volunteer Income tax, Limber and Laughter, Seniors in Need, Knitting for the Needy, Flu Clinics.

·        Develop and maintain seniors information system including database, brochures and information/referral system. 

·        Lead with the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of seniors safaris and other outings and Seniors Wellness programs, educational workshops and clinics.  Prepare course outlines and prepare and distribute promotional material. 

·        Assist with the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of Seniors social activities, events, dinners and dances including: Valentine’s, Volunteer Appreciation, Christmas Events, Open House, Concerts, Oktoberfest, Strawberry Tea, Special Event Dinners, New Years Eve, etc.

·        Supervise and evaluate volunteers in operational area.  Assist with training workshops, appreciation events, volunteer statistics and information system.

·        Assist with the recruitment, orientation, scheduling, supervision and evaluation of program instructors and staff as required. 

Qualifications:

·        Diploma in Recreation or a related discipline with specialty training in Recreation Therapy and/or Recreation for Special Populations/Seniors.

·        Minimum of   2-3 years experience in Co-ordination and Program delivery of Seniors recreational, social and leisure programs.

·        Experience in delivery of Social support and/or Recreation Therapy programs for seniors.

·        Training and experience in Volunteer Management and working with Senior volunteers.

·        Training and experience in Staff Supervision and working collaboratively with Seniors and community groups.

·        Training and experience in large special event planning and implementation

·        Ability to prepare publicity and promotional material.

·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills and customer service skills.

·        Familiar with Microsoft computer programs and desktop publishing programs.

Hours:  35 hours/week, daytime, occasional eve/weekend         WAGE:  $16-20/HR
